A new Mobile APP has been developed by the Rotorua Youth Centre to enable ‘matchmaking’ of young people with potential employers at our bi-annual Employment Speed Meet events.

The Rotorua Youth Centre has been running speed meet events for 3 years now, an opportunity for employers to meet with high school students who are leaving school and promote job opportunities, and an opportunity for students to meet with potential employers and put their ‘best foot forward’.

The APP will eventually be available for schools, training providers and other groups to use to for similar events such as career expo’s, industry open days and more.

The APP is installed prior to the event and updated with information about the students and the employers (plus any job opportunities). As students make their way around the range of employers (or training providers) they are able to log their interest with that particular opportunity as a ‘yes’, ‘no’ or ‘maybe’. Likewise, employers (or training providers) log their interest in each young person.

Matches are then made within the APP, and permission can be given by the young person to send their contact details to the employer for follow up interviews.

The APP has just been upgraded to include specific employment roles (as opposed to just an employer), and the ability to send event reports to the event organizer with statistics such as mutual matches.

We are extremely happy with how this APP works and are certain it will make events such as Career Expo’s and Employment Speed Meets so much easier!
