On the morning of the 22nd of May 2020, two Rotorua Community youth Centre youth workers had the opportunity to present the weather live on TVNZ’s ‘Breakfast’ show.

For the past few weeks, the Breakfast show have been inviting people from around New Zealand to video-conference in and present the weather live on national TV.

The Rotorua Community Youth Centre seized the opportunity, requested to be considered, and put forward two of our dynamic youth workers to present the weather live from the Rotorua Youth Centre.

Lo and Behold, we were accepted and the boys busily prepared for their national TV debut.

Over the days leading up to to the broadcast, youth workers Joel and Gus converted the Totara room at the youth centre in to a TV studio, tested sound and rehearsed their presentation.

At 6am on the morning of broadcast, the boys were sent their script from TVNZ, and at 8:30am on the 22nd of May 2020 their beautiful faces hit our television screens around New Zealand promoting the services on offer and doing a fantastic job of presenting the national weather report.

Lights, camera (and more than likely a great deal of makeup), and ACTION!

As well as the weather, Gus and Joel informed the entire nation about the services on offer at the Rotorua Youth Centre:
